We are delighted to announce that Richard Harrison KC has been appointed by his Majesty the King to the High Court with effect from 2nd December 2024. Mr Justice Harrison will be assigned to the Family Division.
Richard was called to the Bar in 1993 and took Silk in 2012. He has held the position of Deputy High Court Judge for the past 5 years and last year was the winner of Chambers and Partners’ Family Silk of the Year award.
During his time as a barrister, Richard specialised in Family Law with particular expertise in financial remedy applications and international children cases. Described as “the smoothest of smooth operators”, he was the only Silk ranked in Band 1 by both Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500 for both matrimonial finance and children work.
Richard joins a prestigious list of former members of 1KBW, including the current President of the Family Division, Sir Andrew MacFarlane and Baroness Hale, the first female President of the United Kingdom Supreme Court.
