After a distinguished 42-year career at the bar, Anthony Kirk KC announced his retirement from practice as a barrister on 1 November 2022. He will continue to accept instructions to act as a mediator in his new role as an associate member of chambers.
Anthony sits on the Dispute Resolution Committee of Resolution and the Bar Council ADR Group.
Anthony is acclaimed, nationally, as a skilled mediator.
He was Deputy Head of Chambers at 1 King’s Bench Walk for 17 years. He is a Bencher of Gray’s Inn and a Master of Elections.
He was Chair of the Family Law Bar Association in 2006 and 2007, having been its Vice Chair and Secretary. He is an Honorary Life Vice-President of the FLBA, a fellow of the IAFL and of the Royal Society of Medicine.
A family law specialist, Anthony’s practice encompassed a full range of cases involving children and young people, whether representing local authorities, parents or the children concerned. He frequently represented adults with physical, learning and more serious disabilities in both higher courts, as well as on appeal.
